I want to tell you about the story of my grandmother during COVID-19 but she was not infected with this virus. First, I want to introduce myself, my name is Abderrahim, I’m a biologist, living in Tebessa, Algeria.

The story began when COVID-19 became a big problem in the world and especially around my city. My grandmother is 85 years old and she has good health, without any chronic disease. She has suffered from her stomach for many years, because of the food and drinks. But suddenly something bad happened to her; in January 2021, my grandmother had a bad pain in her stomach. The family took her to the health care center. And for the bad situation of hospitals in my city, all the hospitals need to care for every person, and this health care center had a lot of people infected by COVID-19.

The medical officer put my grandmother in an isolation room where no one else was allowed to accompany her, only the medical staff. This situation made the whole family panic and we didn’t know what to do. After some analyses, the medical officer confirmed to us that they needed to cut off a part of the colon, and they called my father to confirm the operation. After the operation, my grandmother returned to her full health and now she is spending lots of great time with us. And the best thing is that my grandmother was not infected with COVID-19 during her time in the hospital.
