Malaysia has now declared a Movement Control Order for the third time after cases rose sharply to 5,000. In fact, earlier this year the cases showed a positive effect but rose again due to a handful of groups who were too selfish without thinking about the consequences and making the virus spread more widely and seriously. I can feel the political element is also involved but it is not my job to discuss it because my main concern here is our source of income in order to get on with life.

What worries me now is my family business, which has already been badly and heavily affected in the first three months of 2020. The loss at that time was a loss we have never experienced as long as we have been running this business since 2011. To everyone’s knowledge, our family runs a food business that needs management all the time. It is our main source of income.

One time I overheard my parents talking about the losses and what surprised me was that if this situation continued, the chances of quitting this business were high. I heard my mother crying and at the same time, I cried too. I can’t imagine what it would be like if it really happened. My family is big because my parents have just adopted three children due to the difficulties of the children’s family; they really needed help. The three children still have to go to school and need a lot of money. I don’t know what will happen if this pandemic drags on for a long, long time. But I am sure there will definitely be a way out of all these difficulties we are facing.
